Ignore the word. Tap the color it’s printed in. You’ve got 30 seconds!

A color word like “RED” shows up printed in a completely different color. Ignore what the word says and tap the button for the ink color you actually see. You have 30 seconds to rack up as many correct answers as you can.

What is the Stroop effect?

Psychologist John Ridley Stroop described it in 1935. Reading is so automatic that the meaning of the word jumps in before you can name the color, and that clash slows you down. The test measures how well you can block out the distraction and focus on what matters.

How to read your score

Around 15 correct in 30 seconds is typical. Over 22 means your focus is well above average, 28+ is excellent, and anything past 35 is rare. If you’re racking up mistakes, slowing down slightly usually raises your score.

A few tricks

Tell yourself “color only” before you start, and let your eyes rest on the strokes rather than trying to read the word. Learning where each button sits lets your hand move before you second-guess yourself.

FAQ

Do wrong answers cost points?
Your score counts only correct answers, but your accuracy is shown too, so keep an eye on both.
I’m color-blind. Will it work for me?
If you have trouble telling red from green, your result may undersell your actual focus. Treat it as just for fun.
