How international age works
Subtract your birth year from the current year, then subtract one more if your birthday hasn’t come yet this year. Korea adopted this as its official age in June 2023.
Year age and traditional Korean age
Year age is simply current year minus birth year. Traditional Korean age starts at 1 at birth and adds a year every New Year’s Day.

- Is the zodiac based on the solar year?
- This calculator uses your solar birth year. Traditionally the zodiac year starts at Lunar New Year, so January–February births may belong to the previous animal.
- What about February 29 birthdays?
- In non-leap years, March 1 is used as the birthday.
