A free percentage calculator that handles the common cases without you remembering the formula: 'what is X% of Y', 'X is what percent of Y', and percent change between two numbers.
What you can compute
Calculate any percentage of a number, find what percentage one number is of another, work out the percent increase or decrease between two values, and compute discounts, taxes, tips, and markups. Each mode has its own input fields so you do not mix them up.
Common real-world uses
Sale price after a discount: enter original price and discount percent. Tip on a restaurant bill: enter bill total and tip percent. Year-over-year revenue growth: enter both years' values and use percent change. Tax-inclusive backout: enter total and tax percent to recover the pre-tax amount.
FAQ
- Is decimal input supported?
- Yes. Both decimals (12.5) and integer percentages work. Negative numbers are supported for percent-change calculations.
- Why does percent change of zero produce an error?
- Mathematically, percent change from zero to any number is undefined (division by zero). Use percent of instead, or report it as 'increased from 0' descriptively.
