Each button plays a test tone. Use Left and Right to confirm your channels aren’t swapped, and Bass, Mid and Treble to hear how each range comes through. The frequency sweep glides from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz so you can hear where your speakers (and ears) run out.
Left and right seem swapped
If the left tone comes out of the right side, your earbuds are in the wrong ears or your speaker cables are crossed. If sound only ever comes from one side, check that the balance slider in your system sound settings is centered.
I can barely hear the bass
A 60 Hz tone is hard for small laptop and phone speakers to reproduce. That is a size limitation, not a fault. If you can’t hear it through a subwoofer or good headphones either, look at your EQ settings or connections.
How high can you hear?
Humans are often said to hear up to 20,000 Hz, but high frequencies are the first to fade with age. Where the sweep goes silent depends on both your gear and your hearing. Start with the volume low to protect your ears.
