Press start and allow camera access to see your webcam feed instantly. The actual resolution and frames per second are shown alongside, so you can confirm whether that “1080p” camera really delivers. You can also flip the mirror view or snap a test photo.
All I see is black
If Zoom, Teams, Skype or another app is using the camera, the browser can’t get to it, so close those first. Check for a physical privacy shutter or a camera kill key on your laptop, and on Windows make sure Settings › Privacy › Camera allows apps to use it.
Resolution looks low
The browser asks for up to 1920×1080 within what your camera supports. If it still comes in low, plug the camera straight into the computer instead of a hub, and add some light; many webcams drop quality in dim rooms.
Why is it mirrored?
A mirrored view feels natural, like looking in a mirror, so it is on by default. The people you call usually see the unflipped image, so turn mirroring off if you want to check how text on a sign or shirt looks to them.
